spacerSummer Safety

The much anticipated summer season has arrived and with it all of the soccer and baseball games, water sports, camping, back yard cookouts, and a plethora of other activities that make it for many our favorite of the seasons. But, along with all of the fun come the usual bumps and bruises and muscle aches (For those of us over 40) that are sometimes the cost of admission to this wonderful time of the year. While we are out exercising our muscles, we should also remember to exercise caution. Everything in moderation is always a good credo that serves up well with hamburgers and potato salad and especially well with alcohol and fireworks. If common sense rules, we can have a safe and great summer season.

A special note to remind everyone that summer also brings out the cyclists. Whether bicycles or motorcycles they will be out in large numbers to enjoy the season just like you and me. While we can lose our patience with our friends on bicycles who sometimes forget to practice proper etiquette, remember that we have under us enough steel to injure or even kill them should we let the situation get the best of us. A little restraint can go a long way to insuring that we all enjoy the best of the season and get home safely at night. If you are behind a motorcycle on the highway, why not give them a little extra room so that you have more time to react should they have a problem that would have them go down. Regardless of your feelings about bikes let’s practice vigilance and be on the lookout for our brothers and sisters with whom we share the road. Have a great-safe summer!
