spacerKeep Your Christmas Merry!

It’s always exciting as we enter the holiday season. The sights, sounds, and aromas of the season bring a wave of the warm fuzzies for us, especially if we have children. Let’s keep it safe by remembering a few simple safety guidelines.

  • When buying a tree look for one that has soft viable needles and no brown areas.
  • Try a mix of karo syrup and bleach in the tree stand reservoir. (The syrup nourishes the tree and the bleach acts as a fire retardant. For exact mix ratio…contact your local fire dept.)
  • Replenish the reservoir…don’t forget about it as the days tick by.
  • Carefully inspect all electric ornaments. Look for insulation voids, and whenever possible plug directly into a wall outlet. If you can avoid using extension cords that’s great. If you must use an extension make sure that it is of ample capacity to handle the load that you are placing on it.
  • For those in areas prone to snow or rain make sure that your outdoor lights were designed for use outdoors. Don’t try to cheat for any reason. It’s just not worth it.
  • Make sure to have a very Merry Christmas. THINK!
